Logan – Monona Senior Portrait Photographer

I met Logan, his sister Paige and his mom on a gorgeous afternoon in late August. It was the first evening where the air was cool and nice rather than hot, humid and disgusting. Logan is going to be a Senior at Monona Grove High School this year. He plays on the football team and plans to pursue a career in fire science once he graduates. His sister Paige was visiting from Hawaii (so jealous!) and got in some of the shots with her younger brother.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a Senior guy. I had worked with several Senior girls thus far and had a blast doing so. The ladies have a pretty keen interest in fashion and have been total naturals in front of the camera. Logan definitely blew away any pre-conceived notions I had about photographing a Senior guy. He was laid back, funny, relaxed and did whatever I told him to:)It was a lot of fun hanging out with the family and looking for interesting places to shoot in the Willy Street area.

Enjoy your sneak peek Logan and best of luck in your Senior Year. Enjoy every minute of it, because before you know it, you’ll be 15 years in the future wondering where all that time went!

Susie & Carson – Madison Portrait Photographer

I was so excited when Susie (running buddy and friend) booked a family portrait session with her son Carson. After knowing Susie for 4 years, I knew what a fun session this would be. Susie is the kind of person you want to hang out with – she’s magnetic! She’s always laughing and putting a positive spin on life. I also knew that her son Carson (6) was a barrel of laughs. He’d been entertaining us all for years. Heck, he’s even got his own pose (The C-bone) and he busts it out for me at this session.

This session can be summed up in three words: HILARIOUS, MOSQUITOES and NORMAL.

HILARIOUS – Carson (and Susie in combo) was just that. I swear this kid is full of personality and goofy ideas. He was moving a mile a minute and I would lay money down that he is going to be entertaining people for the rest of his life – maybe even in Hollywood someday!

MOSQUITOES – Holy cow did we get eaten alive! Susie chose to do the portraits on the bike trail in Middleton and it was simply gorgeous! I can’t wait to head back there when the mosquitoes aren’t feasting on us.

NORMAL – Even though Carson has more personality than any person I’ve ever met, he’s still a totally normal kid. He had his ups and downs during the session. He’d listen and sometimes not. He’d play it up for the camera and then tell me to put it away. And if all else failed, he’s still a kid who loves ice cream and hanging out with his mom.

Susie & Carson – Thanks for the wonderful afternoon! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek!:)

More of the lovely Toni – Janesville Senior Portrait Photographer

Here’s the full-on blog post from my session with Toni last week. Our session rocked – it was fun, we had awesome light and lots of laughs. We started the shoot at the Rotary Gardens in Janesville for a very special reason. A little over 3 years ago Toni lost her big sister, Taylor, in a car accident. Toni’s family had a commemorative stone placed in the Sunken Garden at the Rotary Gardens. From what I understand Taylor was an extraordinary girl and it was obvious as I spent some very special moments with Toni and her mother at the Gardens. I’m honored that I could capture those moments for you and your family. (To learn more about Taylor: tayloropen08.com)

I loved this session and had an absolute blast. Enjoy the rest of your sneak peek Toni!:)

Hometown Fun with the M Family

On a warm and muggy (what else is new?!) Saturday morning, I headed back to my hometown. I grew up in Muskego, WI, graduated from high school in 1996 and still frequent this growing Milwaukee suburb to visit my parents, family and friends. On this Saturday though, I was there for a different reason. I was there to photograph the family of two of my former high school classmates – Angie and Ryan. It was a very fun way to catch-up and see how our lives had changed since high school.

It was easy to see how Ryan and Angie’s lives had changed. They are happily married with two adorable children – Carter (4) and Madelyn or Maddie (2). Both children are absolutely adorable and I can see both of their parents in them. Carter is a CHATTERBOX. He talks a mile-a-minute and is genuinely excited about the world around him. Maddie is definitely more quiet than her brother, but you can definitely see her independence and personality in everything that she does.

We started out at Basse’s Farm in Muskego and let the kids enjoy checking out the animals and small playground. We celebrated their birthdays with cupcakes and a giant pickle. After Basse’s started to wear thin, we made our way to the Gingerbread House. This is somewhere I had not been before nor heard of. It’s an adorable farmhouse turned into a cafe, farm, ice cream shop. Carter loved following the roosters around and checking out Lucy the Goose. We snuck a few formal family photos in, sipped on some Italian Sodas and called it a day. The kids behaved fabulously the entire time and Angie did an awesome job dressing the whole family for the session! Maddie kind of stole the show with her pink tutu and pigtails. Too cute!

Senior Super Sneak Peek – Toni

I had an amazing session with a very laid back, fun young woman tonight. Toni is going to be a Senior in Edgerton this fall and I know she’s going to have an incredible year.

As always, I promise all my clients a sneak peek from their session within one week. Sometimes I get so consumed by a session that I immediately start editing. This was one of those sessions where everything magically came together! Enjoy your super sneak peek Toni – MORE to COME!:)
